Early 19th century George IV regency six drawer mahogany writing Desk.
The writing surface has recently been relined with a gilt tooled black leather and a crossbanded mahogany border sits above a well figured mahogany frieze. The writing table is fitted with three oak lined drawers to each side and retains brass lion head handles. The mahogany drawers’ fronts sit above a double reeded moulding. The beautiful six drawer writing table stands on four finely turned and shaped tapered legs that terminate on brass caps and castors.

What Is the George IV Period?
The George IV period (1820–1830) marked the height of the British Regency style, combining classical elegance with increasing richness in materials and decoration. Influenced by architects and designers such as John Nash and Thomas Hope, furniture from the period is recognised for its bold proportions, finely figured mahogany and rosewood veneers, brass inlay, carved ornament and refined neoclassical design.
