Main description
The mahogany moulded arch pediment with solid ebony cockbeading and boxwood stringing is surmounted on vertical cut mahogany veneers cross-banded with satinwood, boxwood and ebony. The astragal glazing bars are veneered in padouk with boxwood lines and the bookcase top is fitted with three original adjustable shelves. The lower section of the bookcase with a fully fitted secretaire drawer opens to reveal a satinwood, thuya and mahogany veneered cupboard door concealing two further drawers. The secretaire door is flanked by thuya and satinwood banded drawers and pigeon holes and has a green baize writing surface. Below, a pair of mahogany and satinwood banded oval panelled doors open to reveal a bank of four drawers and adjustable shelves. The secretaire bookcase stands on a crisply shaped and cut frieze base and stands on elegantly fine 'French' George Hepplewhite 'style' bracket feet.
