Rare Set of Twelve Hepplewhite Period Mahogany Dining Chairs English Circa 1785
The chairs with their classical solid shield-back design are beautifully worked with a delicate boxwood stringing with a solid mahogany vase shape back splat. The bow fronted chairs are also made in solid Honduras mahogany and retain a wonderful colour and grain pattern. The tapered legs sit on solid block feet. We have re-covered the drop in seats with a period design fabric using the original horse-hair stuffings. The set overall is in excellent condition, only two single chairs have replaced seat rails and both the carvers have later seat blocks to the chair frame it is rare to find such an elegant long-set of chairs available for sale.
