The rectangular top with canted corners is veneered with highly figured Indian rosewood cross-banded with satinwood, boxwood stringing and purpleheart. The rosewood and boxwood strung frieze drawers are arranged with faux/dummy drawers and opposing full length mahogany-lined drawers and carry the original lion mask gilt brass handles, locks and escutcheons. The table has fine tapered rosewood veneered trestle end supports above boxwood mouldings and a centre rosewood stretcher inlaid with boxwood stringing. The table stands on outswept rosewood legs and the original gilt brass capped lion paw castors.
