George III satinwood inlaid tea chest.
The rectangular top is crossbanded in tulipwood and boxwood stringing and decorated in the centre with flowers and a flamed mahogany oval panel. The original silvered axe head handle opens another hinged lid to reveal two lidded tea compartments and a later English cut- glass mixing bowl. The inside of the lid is most unusual in that it is crossbanded and inlaid with the initials 'CS.'
The tea caddy chest is fitted with a silver escutcheon above a satinwood crossbanding at the bottom of the tea chest.
