The cabinet surmounted by a palladian style pediment with a central carved and gilded cartouche above a parcel gilded moulding and flanked with carved Virtruvian scrolls with a 'Greek key' moulding that decorates the pediment above a blind fret gothic frieze. The thirteen pane astragal glazed doors below the cornice open to reveal three adjustable mahogany fronted shelves and the top section of the bookcase sits on a low waisted base. The lower section consists of three graduated oak lined drawers and retains the original brass open fret handles. The bookcase stand on carved ogee bracket feet with unusual inset scrolls.
