circa 1785 - 1795
The stunning flamed mahogany oval inset panel to the top is cross banded in tulipwood with boxwood and harewood stringing. The very striking West Indian fiddleback satinwood veneers have been quartered to contrast each other creating the most fantastic harlequin of woods. The satinwood top is again cross banded in tulipwood with boxwood and harewood stringing. The front edge is made in mahogany with boxwood stringing sitting on a fiddleback satinwood frieze with tulipwood bandings and a boxwood moulding. The finely tapered legs with rosewood stringing and rosewood strung tablets stand on rosewood veneered feet. This is the finest of George Hepplewhite's work.
