Early 19th Century Regency Period Mahogany Dining Table

Early 19th Century Regency Period Mahogany Dining Table

English

circa 1826 - 1836

Early 19th century George IV Regency period mahogany 8 seater breakfast/dining table in highly figured Honduras mahogany stamped by Gillows.

The rectangular mahogany top is highly figured and book matched in Honduras mahogany.

The neatly shallow frieze is vertically veneered and retains two concealed drawers, one to each side. The drawers are a later addition but have been made after the manufacture of the table by only a few years. The drawer construction and locks are of the period and have the same dry surfaces as the rest of the table's underside.

The table is marked Gillows and is a tilt top with two detachable bolts allowing for the top to come away from the saddle and pedestal base.

The dining table is raised on nulled/gadrooned bun feet, and a super quatraform plinth base above a moulded collar that sits below a crisply carved reeded pedestal.

The table will seat 8 diners informally and 6 diners formally.
