George III carved 18th century giltwood mirror.
The crisply carved inverted acanthus leaf carving, surmounted on 'C' scrolls and centralised stiff leaf motifs, is incorporated with an intricately carved frame throughout with 'C' scrolls of various sizes and form interlaced with flowers and trailing stiff leaf decoration.
The mirror plate is 18th century but associated to the frame. The frame was made originally for a Chinese reverse mirror painting which was obviously damaged or broken at some point in time.
To the reverse, the original back boards are covered with an interesting scene from a Victorian era. Again the paper covering is later but we photographed it because it was so interesting.
Excellent, the rectangular mirror dating from around the mid 18th century.
