Late George III period card/games table.
The figured veneered top is banded and crossbanded with the outer edge being crossbanded in tulip wood. The top opens to reveal a green baize and the playing surface is supported on a twin gate leg action at the back of the table.
Above the shallow frieze the sides are crossbanded in rosewood to match the lozenge shaped medallions below. The satinwood frieze is inlaid with ebony and boxwood stringing and flanked with rosewood lozenge shaped motifs.
The card table is supported on ring turned and tapered legs that have been made in the solid and terminate on elegant toupe feet. The legs are highly figured in West Indian Satinwood and are a fine feature of the table.
