Federal American
circa 1820 - 1830
A pair of Federal 19th century period faux rosewood bedside cabinets.
The original gilt brass galleries adorn rectangular tops with rounded corners above simulated bamboo columns. The faux rosewood sides and tops are expertly painted and are so good that one thinks they are rosewood.
The centre doors retain the original brass handles and back plate and centralise the mauve silk pleats. The faux rosewood panelled doors open to reveal a cupboard and sit above a shaped, scrolled frieze that mirrors the delicate stretcher below.
The fine and rare simulated rosewood bedside cabinets are raised on finely shaped and tapered ring turned legs.
