Fine 18th century George III mahogany serpentine chest in the taste of John Cobb.
The bow fronted top is crossbanded with a broad band of Cuban mahogany and flanked with tulipwood and boxwood stringing and fine pointed corners above a shallow cushion front moulding. The figured sides fan out to a single reeded upright either side of four graduated drawers.
The drawer linings are mahogany and made with fine crisp dove tail construction and fitted with brass locks, with the original handles and lozenge-shaped escutcheons to the drawer fronts.
The vertically veneered bowfront apron is raised on solid turned mahogany cabriole legs to the front with a shallower shaped apron to the sides.
