circa 1815 - 1825
Early 19th century Regency period rosewood and brass inlaid sofa table.
The table top with book-matched veneers and cut brass bandings sits above a faded frieze with two concealed full length mahogany lined drawers with centralised brass plaques to the drawer fronts.
The solid rosewood trestle end supports and central stretcher are crisply carved with brass strings to compliment the lyre end supports.
The lyre or harp shaped supports sit on a plinth platform base with brass stringing and raised on outstretched rosewood legs that terminate on the original gilt brass capped castors.
The table is certainly of the highest quality and made by a top London workshop of the day, for maybe a musician but most probably a patron of the arts.
