Extremely rare 18th century Sheraton period West Indian satinwood embroidery box on stand.
The box and stand are crossbanded in tulipwood. The work box is crossbanded at the top and the bottom, and the stand is tulipwood banded on the top.
The highly figured satinwood box has a fully fitted interior: five satinwood lids with silver ring pull handles; four miniature cannisters for silk; four leather embossed for gold and silver; and a silk padded lid for larger samples. The top interior tray lifts out.
The work box stands on fine tapered solid satinwood legs with mahogany tipped ‘spade’ toes.
The work box comes with the original key.
The embroidery box is fitted with its original interior and sits on the original satinwood stand.
