circa 1815 - 1825
Early 19th century Regency period red and cream penwork tea caddy in the sarcophagus shape and raised on the original gilt brass paw feet.
The decoration to the top is of a sea shell surrounded by, or nesting in, a bed of coral and framed by a single outline border. The lid edge is bevelled and elegantly decorated with fine penwork above a body of floral patterns and designs.
The red penwork tea caddy opens to reveal two lidded compartments: one compartment for green tea and one for black tea.
