Irish
circa 1750 - 1760
Rare mid 18th century Irish mirror, with fine detailing throughout. The inverted 'V's surmounted on a plinth above 'C' scrolls and inset carved leaves surrounded with stiff leaf decoration to the top and pierced sides hung with intertwined flora, acanthus leaves and foliage with a central carved flower to each side of the plate. The original plate has been re-silvered and the gesso to the frame has been carefully picked back to its original condition. Traces of the gesso and gilding are evident all over the frame. The open fret carving to the apron is centralised with a pendant rocaille finial and leaf decoration to finish the scroll.
The overall condition is superb and the detailing is of the highest quality.
