An 18th century period George II figured walnut and feather banded bureau bookcase. The cavetto shaped pediment is surmounted by three turned giltwood finials.
The top section interior with an arrangement of drawers, pigeon holes, and folio shelves with a central horizontal shelf. The bookcase is enclosed by a pair of shaped arch doors and fitted with the original bevelled mercury silvered mirror plates above slide out candle holders.
The bureau section with a feather banded fall front opening to a light green velvet lined writing surface and an interior fitted with pigeonholes, drawers and a sliding panel opening to a well. The bureau interior is fitted with a secret concealed drawer. The bureau sits above a figured walnut frieze with a pair of retractable lopers, over two short and two long, graduated feather banded, oak lined drawers. The bookcase is supported on shaped bracket feet and is fitted with the original brass handles.
